Who spreads the ashes in the Better Place Forests?

Learn about how ashes are spread in the forests.

In each of our forests, at least one of our Forest Stewards is a Cremated Remains Disposer who holds a license in the state of California to legally spread ashes.

The majority of the time, families will request that this Forest Steward will spread the ashes.

However, we are happy to work with you to involve you and your family however you would like to participate.

Spreading Preparation

Prior to any spread, the ashes are mixed with native soil in a ratio that allows the mixture to not disturb the pH balance of the soil surrounding the tree.

Within about 2 years, and depending on the forest, the ash and soil mixture will naturally break down into the soil.
